“No matter what the season, a small family of deer graze on the lawns of Château de la Carrière in the afternoon – their safe haven. A diagnosed ‘return visitor’ addicted to the fresh air, tranquil picturesque surrounds and magnetism of historic tales (if only the walls could talk) this Château experience has much to offer. Glamorous reception rooms, delightful bedrooms with private bathrooms, a chapel, a pool, woods and new accommodation nestled within original infrastructure, topped off with homemade Cherry Jam produced from established garden trees. It is an easy trip from Paris by train or car to the region. Larger towns, Sable, Laval and Le Mans are close by. Golf, wineries, traditional French patisseries, village markets and endless finds for those seeking brocante opportunities, it’s a great place to stay when exploring the Mayenne region and Loire Valley”

“Such an amazing experience. The spectacular tree lined driveway leads you through the extensive grounds, to the chateau. I was in awe. The grounds are easy to roam and well maintained – the atmosphere is magical.

The owners are warm and very accommodating. The original chateau rooms are impeccable, each with an individual charm. The new Guesthouse is spectacular. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms spotless. The chateau is laden with history and a few secrets! Close to village shops and market stalls, you can enjoy local fruit and veggies, with a café stop off for French pastries. Having found an amazing local shoe shop, the fabulous experience that is Chateau de la Carriere lives on each time the shoes and handbags exit the wardrobe! Well worth a visit”
